Abstract

Our experience as readers enhances the writer’s work. However, there is a point where our experience leads us to allow our imagination to explore the unknown. Beyond the work produced, we explore the writer’s version of reality. Through this lens, we as readers critique a hierarchy of representation within universal consciousness. Women’s agency in the Edda's rises to the magic of the Viking past through the Seeress's voice. Still, even today, the female reader may feel enraged by Óðinn’s grasping of our divine essence, our magic, and our ability to create. Within the interplay of Reader/Storyteller, Writer, and Work, our gaze seeks redemption.
